The Master of a vessel has reported hearing over VHF CH.16 that a Antigua-Barbuda-flagged general cargo vessel has been hit by a missile whilst underway approximately 82nm Southeast of Aden, Yemen. The VHF transmission informed that the vessel was diverting their course and requesting assistance from coalition warships. UPDATE 1: Clearwater have received further information stating that a fire broke out as a result of the missile impact but was quickly extinguished. No injuries have been reported, the general cargo vessel is heading to a safe position to wait for assistance. UPDATE 2: The UKMTO have confirmed that the fire was contained to the vessel's mooring station. The crew are reported safe and the vessel is now proceeding to the next port of call.
