The UKMTO has issued a notice from the Joint Maritime Information Centre, advising that, whilst the Houthi's continue to launch retaliatory attacks on U.S. Naval assets in response to the ongoing U.S. airstrikes, there is an elevated risk of collateral damage to merchant vessels transiting the Red Sea from missiles and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles intended for U.S. Naval forces or those in flight that are destroyed resulting in fragmentation. It also states that commercial shipping may be impacted by GPS interference. that can commonly occur in navy operating areas, in the vicinity of naval exercises and if being used as a self-defence measure. Vessel's operating in this region are advised to follow the Maritime Security Corridor and keep clear of U.S. Naval vessels. It is also highly encouraged for a vigilant watch to be continued and report any unusual activity, including the sighting of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles to the UKMTO. |
