It has been reported that an attempted robbery occurred on a Singapore-Flagged tanker whilst underway in the Phillip channel, Singapore Strait. The Master alerted the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore after a crew member sustained an injury to their face during the incident. The Singapore Police Coast Guard and Singapore Civil Defence Force dispatched two vessels to assist and the injured crew member was transferred to hospital. The remaining crew are accounted for and safe and the tanker is anchored in Singapore waters. UPDATE: The IMB have received further information stating that a number of robbers were spotted entering the engine room. Whilst the perpetrators were escaping with items of ship's stores, the crew member was attacked and injured. The coast guard boarded the tanker to complete a full investigation. |
