It has been reported that an attempted robbery occurred on an unmanned oil platform located off Terengganu, Malaysia. The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) reported that seven robbers were apprehended in an operation following reports from the Petronas Security Group that the platform had been boarded. The MMEA dispatched a vessel to monitor the platform, however due to conditions the personnel were unable to board the platform immediately. Once conditions were safe for the platform to be boarded, MMEA personnel found seven perpetrators hiding in the ventilation ducts. Investigations found the platform in disarray after the robbers had cut cables, piled up food containers, wrenches, ropes and piled-up batteries. The perpetrators were arrested and taken to Terengganu for questioning. |
