The Master has reported that an explosion occurred a distance from the vessel. The vessel and crew are reported as safe, and the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call. Clearwater have also received information that the vessel involved is a Liberian-flagged oil tanker and that further reports indicate that two explosions occurred approximately 550 metres off the port side of the tanker. No damage has been reported at this time. UPDATE 1: The UKMTO have received a further report from the Master stating that at 0140 UTC, a small craft was acting suspiciously by flashing lights towards the vessel, 74nm West-northwest of Hodeidah. At 0313 UTC, the Master reported a second explosion in close proximity to the tanker, 89nm West-northwest of Hodeidah. The vessel and crew are still reported as safe, and the tanker is continuing to its next port of call.
