It has been reported by the UKMTO that a vessel has been attacked approximately 64nm Northwest of Mocha, Yemen (exact position not specified). The authorities are investigating. UPDATE 1: Clearwater have received further information that the vessel involved is a Liberia-flagged container ship. Initial reports state that the vessel has been targeted three times and no damage has been sustained to the vessel. Details on whether the vessel was targeted by missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, or unmanned surface vessels have not been confirmed at this time. UPDATE 2: The Master has reported that the vessel was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle which caused minor damage and an unmanned surface vessel which exploded in close proximity. The Master has reported additional Unmanned Surface Vessel sightings. The vessel and crew are reported safe. UPDATE 3: The Company Security Officer has reported that a further missile splashed in close proximity to the vessel at 08:05 UTC. UPDATE 4: JMIC have reported that the Unmanned Surface Vessel was one of three small boats that approached the vessel, two of which were manned. The onboard armed security team opened fire on the unmanned boat, which initiated the explosion. |
