The UKMTO has received a report of an attack on a vessel 100nm East of Aden, Yemen (exact position not specified). The authorities are currently investigating. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO. UPDATE 1: The UKMTO have been informed by the Master that an explosion occurred in close proximity of the vessel, the vessel and crew are reported as safe and the vessel is proceeding to the next port of call. Clearwater have also received confirmed information that the vessel involved is a Greece-flagged bulk carrier. UPDATE 2: Further information has been received reporting that the bulk carrier was subject to a further attack at approximately 11:50 UTC. The reports state that an object impacted the water between 10 and 15 metres from the starboard side of the bulk carrier. UPDATE 3: The UKMTO have reported that there is evidence of shrapnel and the vessel has sustained damage to the paintwork.
