The UKMTO have received a report of an attack on a vessel 85nm Southeast of Ash Shihr, Yemen. Authorities are investigating. UPDATE 1: A further report from the UKMTO states that four unidentified Unmanned Ariel Vehicles were flying close to a merchant ship. One Unmanned Aerial Vehicle hit the water in close proximity to the vessel. Coalition forces are responding. UPDATE 2: The Master reported that the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle hit the water approximately 800 metres from the vessel. The vessel and crew are safe and are proceeding to their next port of call. UPDATE 3: It has been confirmed that the vessel involved in the incident was the same American owned and operated Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier, that was hit on it's port side by an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle on 17th January 2024 and reported in CW Alert 036- (Jan 24). |
