Open source reports that the French frigate Languedoc shot an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle in the Red Sea approximately 15 nautical miles West of Mokha, Yemen (exact time and position not specified). The reports state the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle was directly threatening a Norwegian-flagged tanker that had been subjected to an air attack from Yemen. The reports also state that the Languedoc placed itself in protection of the vessel, "preventing the attempt to hijack the ship". Once the USS Mason had arrived and escorted the tanker back towards the Gulf of Aden, the French frigate resumed its patrol towards the North. |
