The UKMTO have received a report from the Master of a vessel of Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) activity, 62nm Southwest of Hodeidah, Yemen. Initial reports are also indicating a possible explosion and that the Uncrewed Aerial system originated from the direction of Yemen. Vessels in the vicinity are advised to follow industry guidance on loitering munitions, to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to the UKMTO. UPDATE 1: Further information has been received stating that the vessel involved was a Bahamas-flagged cargo vessel which reported the explosion as being 2nm away from the vessel. UPDATE 2: Additional information has been received to state that an airborne drone exploded 30 metres above the vessel, between the second and third cranes, no damage was reported but some shrapnel from the drone was recovered from the deck. The crew remained secured in the citadel, under the guidance of the armed guards that were onboard and the vessel continued to head South under the protection of a coalition warship. |
